Reports are that just about 5:00 AM this morning, Friday, June 12, police officers from the St Catherine North were on route to an operation in the Sydenham area, near Spanish Town in the parish when their service vehicle came under heavy gunfire.
The vehicle overturned as gunfire continued even as policemen tried to get out of it. Another vehicle sped to the scene in response to calls. The lawmen were all taken to hospital where 2 were pronounced dead.

Two officers from the team , were admitted one in serious condition.
Head of police communications, Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay told a local radio station shortly after 7 a.m. that the mood of the police is “very sad” this morning.
