St Andrew PrincipalCharged After reportedly Sexually Assaults His Daughter

A principal at an eastern St Andrew school is on bail, because he was charged for the alleged sexual abuse of his teenage daughter recently.

The police reported that the head Master was charged and arrested by detectives from (CISOCA) the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse on March 10, 2020.

Charmaine Shand, Senior Superintendent of Police from CISOCA, confirmed that the principal is now charged with grievous sexual assault and cruelty to a child.

On Friday, April 24, 2020 the accused is scheduled to reappear in court.
The principal’s name was not published, as it is important to protect the identity of the teenager.

It is alleged that the victim reported the matter to the guidance department at her high school, and they decided to ask for the intervention of the police.

It was not yet ascertained whether the abuse only occurred once, or it had taken place over a long time.

The Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) reported that the teen is now in state care.

The Ministry of Education representatives were unaware of the incident and did not comment.

There were about 15,000 cases of sexual and other abuse that was referred to the CPFSA in 2018. This represented an 8.5% rise above the 13,820 reports that were made in 2017.
